Theory Building Workshop
December 22, 2025 | Belgrade, Serbia
The Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Belgrade organized a research workshop Theory Building and Advanced Methods in Management Research: From Ideas to Impact, dedicated to the development of theoretical contributions and the preparation of papers for leading international conferences and journals in the field of management and organization.
The workshop was held on December 22, 2025 and represents an important step in strengthening the regional research community, with a special focus on the preparation of papers for the Academy of Management Annual Meeting 2026 and publication in top international journals.
In the introductory part of the workshop, Žaklina Stojanović, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Saša Randjelovic, Aleksandar Stajkovic, Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison & EKOF, and Ambassador of the AoM for the Western Balkans, Metka Tekavčič, President of the Slovenian Academy of Management, as well as Ivan Radević, President of the Montenegrin Academy of Management, spoke about the role of Academy of Management and development of the regional research network.
The central part of the program was dedicated to the theoretical building process in contemporary management research: what constitutes a theoretical contribution, how to develop conceptual frameworks for A journals, as well as how to connect research questions with adequate research design. Special attention is paid to advanced methods, including the development of psychometric scales, experimental design, meta-analysis, structural modeling (SEM, HLM), as well as the application of textual data processing models and large language models.
The workshop was highly interactive and focused on the work on the participants' manuscripts, with the exchange of comments and feedback focused on the theoretical contribution, positioning of the work and the potential for AoM applications.
